Greg H from Essex, Canada writes: The USA price for a loaded 3LT as you tested is $67,500 --it is still shameful that GM wants 90,000 in Canada.
BUY a USA model and add the bumper updates ($500 $500 labour) and smile ( caution - verify if 2008 have been removed from BAN to import due to anti-theft BS )
see www.carburner.com and the several corvette forums for more details

I am curious - do these ads, I mean car reviews, have any impact on sales - yeah sure I have the 30 seconds of what if running through my mind when I read them but only the really gullible must get hooked on this sort of thing - -- - for most of us reality intervenes.....- Posted 08/05/08 at 7:32 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

MQ9 Reaper from Canada writes: Greg H - wait for another month or so - Transport Canada intends to harmonize bumper regulations with the US and Europe. Will soon no longer be an issue.
It's curious that the US DOT mandated 5 mph bumpers in the late 70's and Canada followed suit with 8 km/h bumpers. The US repealed this arcane reg. to the trash can in the late 90's and we still have it in Canada in 2008.- Posted 08/05/08 at 7:43 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Dani Ho from Canada writes: The 'Vette is truly an American icon. I agree it's very unfortunate the pricing between Canada and the US is so vastly different. There is no justification for this outside of pure greed.
One thing the article did strike a chord -- why did the author need to mention the gaffes when the introduction to the keyless entry at the Detroit Autoshow along with his tester car not having a functional horn? Is he implying that GM is run by not-so-bright people that make faulty products?
I will say that quality at GM (along with the other North American manufacturers) have greatly improved. Differences in quality between the counterparts from Japan are almost at par. However, it seems like small glitches here and there are polarized by the media, which in turn, reminds the consumer of the numerous 'lemons' the Big3 produced back in the 70's-80's.
But to the author's defence, for 90 large, I would easily take a GT-R over a Corvette (if I could find a GT-R selling at sticker price!)- Posted 10/05/08 at 5:07 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Baad Daddy from Northwest Ontario, Canada writes: Bla bla bla... Porsche there is no substitute. Granted the Corvette is a cultural icon and a big V8 does have its appeal. However, there is something about a horsey on the hood that brings cachet which means something. A fifty something in yet another red Vette has midlife crisis written all over it. A Boxster S or 911 convertible brings a timeless sophistication to the conversation.
