Consumer Reports loves the Eos

Globe and Mail Update

The auto testers at Consumer Reports magazine rank the Volkswagen Eos best among seven convertibles tested for the current May issue. The Eos narrowly out-scored the BMW 328i, though both earned "Very Good" overall scores.

Though they scored marginally lower, both the Saab 9-3 and Volvo C70 also received "Very Good" ratings. The Pontiac G6, Mitsubishi Eclipse and Chrysler Sebring posted "Good" scores. The Eos, 328i and C70 are all "recommended" as a result of testing and their good reliability ratings and at least adequate crash-test scores.

Five of the seven tested have retractable hardtops, while two have traditional fabric tops, but all are power-operated.
